Catalog: M2M_CATALOG Location: Earth Event Time: 2024-10-06T06:55Z ( DSCOVR: PLASMAG ) Quality of ICME Signature: -1 (unspecified) Note: Characterized by a sharp initial jump in magnetic field components (Bx: -2,4nT to 5.48nT, By: -1.9nT to 4.93nT, Bz: 6.16nT to 14.46nT, Bt: 8.41nT to 14.94nT) with continued fluctuation as the signature has progressed (peak Bt is 15.33nT as of this writing). Bz has remained mostly positive in the initial signature. In addition to the magnetic field components, there were also enhancements in solar wind speed (approx. 372km/s to 525km/s), temperature (approx. 75kK to approx. 250kK) and particle density (approx. 1p/cc to approx. 3p/cc). This signature is likely a result of the arrival of CME: 2024-10-03T12:48Z which was the result of an X9.0 flare from AR 3842, but may have contributions from other more minor CMEs.
